I N D N 2 1 2Product Based Experiments

Project One Part B - Creation

Concepts:

After going through my precedents I drew up 3 sketch concepts. From these three I will choose one to further develop to make an effect creation. These sketches were drawn keeping in mind my motif of autonomy and my theme of using natural materials for majority of the design.

Concept 1.)

Main Features:

- Steel base contrasts the entire form with the wooden aesthetic
- Made from wood conveying my theme on using natural materials
- Light is illuminated from behind the acrylic pieces to provide light around the space
- Light is evenly and effectively distributed with the shape of the lamp

Concept 2.)

 Main Features:

- Abstract form, with the squares conforming normal rules as they are out of place from being a regular rectangle
- Each square has its own circuit to provide shining light from easy one to illuminate the spaces
- made from wood to convey my theme of having a naturally made project finished with a steel base which contrast the square sharp edges of the rest of the form

Concept 3.)
Main Features:

- Water feature with water trickling down the acrylic face to sooth the space and provide a relaxing feeling
- Made from a single piece of wood to convey my theme of natural materials
- Touch sensor using the steel inner ring on the aesthetic form
- warm yellow light will illuminate the space like a salt lamp to provide a relaxing and soothing sense within the space achieved with the lighting and water feature.

On the left we see the combined precedents which helped me construct this concept.

After analyzing all of my concepts in depth I chose concept three as my concept to go fourth with, I feel it is the most effective and the final outcome will also be the most effective from the three. I will now develop this concept further using 3D modeling on solid works and more sketches to help create a well refined light device to make and create.
