Questions and Answers:
- What is ethnography and how is sensory ethnography different from a standard approach?
Ethnography is writing about people by observing and understanding their culture. Sensory
ethnography is focusing on the sense, it differs from a standard approach as it gives you more
interaction and understanding of the subject.
- What examples does Sarah Pink give of the types of material you might draw upon?
From her video interview, women doing laundry drawing on texture and smell whilst doing this
activity, also textures on the ground on her feet when she walks.
- What ways does she suggest that sensory ethnography can be recorded
Video Recording, carry around a camera plus record everything. Reviewing videos after they
were captured to reveal emotions and feelings of the subject and yourself revealing what you felt
at the time.
