Images of My Sensory Ethnography and Analysis:
Images were taken to support my sensory ethnography, as my activities were performed and I noted all my senses through each one I was able to identify certain aspects which was an experience that goes unnoticed until we analyze each ritual. I tried to express these through my images along with an analysis to explain my experience
Brushing of the Teeth:
As I analyzed my brushing from start to end I looked into how I actually cleaned my teeth and I realized how I had a set routine when I was cleaning my teeth. I would go 20 up and down, 20 side to side on each side and 20 circular motion around the mouth. Using my touch and taste sense to do things well to get a nice clean mouth.
Analysis:
Lathering toothpaste on my bristles capturing the right amount with my eyes before it makes contact with my teeth to start the cleaning process. The sweet smell of toothpaste and sulfur lingers around the room, as the toothpaste makes it way onto my teeth my mouth as an explosion of freshness as my taste buds get a kick from the freshness of tooth paste. The battle begins as I vigorously run my tooth brush up and down, side to side and in a circular motion cleaning my mouth. The feel of the brush on my teeth is tingly as it goes in different directions. The motion creates a violent sound as the bristols scratch my teeth clean. Once I was finished I spit the tooth paste out and as I breath in the chemicals in the tooth paste reacts with the air creating a fresh burst in my mouth.
In this photography I wanted to express the senses of smell which I experienced in the shower, I wanted to express the aromas that all my different shower products create in the air. With a hint of blueberry smelling shampoo and strawberry body gel at the conclusion of my shower it smells like a fruit burst before the extractor fan takes all the smell away.
I found the sound of water hitting the plastic floor very violet, depending on the pressure rate it makes various noises but in my shower its very violent and echoes through the bathroom creating a discomforting sound. It creates this essence of discomfort but as soon as I was in the shower I felt safe as I associate the shower as a safe place.
Analysis:
The cold metal knob holds the release of hot comforting water in the morning, I Use my hand to insure the water is off a good temperature, as I jump in the shower the water touches my body and turns my cold body to hot. The smell of blueberry enters my vicinity when I click open my shampoo bottle which I use to lather and massage into my hair, later using the water to rush down my body sending the excess water in a spiral down the drain. Aromas intensely spin around in the shower as I use different products but they only linger for a short period of time before the exhaust sends the smell out into the worldliness, as I turn of the water with now a hot knob I scrambled out of the shower to dry myself and find warmth.
Eating Toast:
Toast always provides a various range of textures and flavors which is what keeps us excited and wanting more, in my experience I discovered how there are so many various textures of toast being crunchy with the soft flavors imbedded above which all explodes in your mouth as you chew infusing all the flavors together. If you don't eat the toast fast enough it looses its crunchiness and becomes unwanted
Analysis:
Toast provides an explosion of flavors within my mouth, from the first bite and chew the flavors tingle my taste buds as I indulge in the sweet flavors of blue berry and butter. The crunch sends crumbs all over the plate as I consume the toast with a distinctive crunch sound which rings through the room. The cent of blueberry jam lingers and as the toast melts the jam it creates a aroma throughout the kitchen until I finish the last bite and leave the crumbs on the plate for scraps.
