Project One Part B - Creation
Detail/Specifications:
Here are some details on my design and what I will use for construction
Size:
Shown above are the sizes of the final model, size of the wood pieces and also the gaps between the squares
Apparence:
The aesthetic I have chosen is modern and I have expressed this using wood and acrylic, wood looks modern if done well and I will execute my design to fit into a modern space and function to light up the space effectively.
Internal Structure:
The internals will be hidden with ice acrylic so the circuits will be hidden to express a more effective design, the internals will incase the electronics including LED lighting for the squares to illuminate the space and surroundings
Meaning and overall composition:
For my creation I am using the intervention and autonomy motifs. Intervention is expressed through recycled wood which expresses to the user that once purposeful wood dosnt loose its purpose when disposed, therefor through my creation I will express recycling and the benefits with wood with more character. I will express autonomy through my abstract design and from including the aesthetic and function.
Interaction:
Interaction will be simple with a switch, the main focal point of my creation will be the abstract design apposed to the interaction.
Influences and impressions:
Influences like precedents were expressed earlier, influences making me choose recycling was a thought that came about when watching the lecturer show designs from past years and seeing all the damage in the Christchurch quake and showing all the materials that have been wasted and will never be used again, but i want to express recycling as a positive and show that materials such as wood are always sustainable for purpose.
Material/Components/light + power source:
- LED lights
- 12v from the mains using an adaptor
- Recycled wood for the body and heart
- Arctic acrylic for the top and bottom of the squares
- wire to connect the squares together
- Preferably touch switch to control the system
I will now do more work on solid works to refine my model and then start the creation process with construction.
